OV 5 latest version ?

Post by freddo »

Hi all,

been waiting for updates to OV 5, seen references in the forum to version 5.6.3 or something, and note that in the downloads section the latest is still
(5.6.1.1) - Dec 2, 2019.

So, I'm kinda confused.

Now I read a forum buddy mentioning the possibility of a V6 in the future.

Without consulting a clairvoyant, can anyone fill me in on the current state of play?

Should I just plod on with the old version ?

Hi Freddo,

Yeah, a while back I was also confused and trying to get the latest build asking around here if anyone had one.

What I found was if you download the demo, it is actually the latest 5.6.3-3 and will install over the other version(s).

That said, I still go back and forth between the latest and previous builds because some things work better in one version than the other. So I would hang on to whatever installs/builds you have.

And yes, I can just reiterate the same thing to you, that Overture 6 is on the horizon but none of us knows the whens/hows...it's all in the developer's hands.

We're all waiting and using what we have in the meantime.

Thanks Dean !

it's weird that a demo can install... normally demos are for a restricted time, and restricted functions... :?

So you say basically it supercedes the existing version.
I would worry if you say some functions don't work as well, but others better.

For example the famous right click for copy/paste I would like back instead of having to go up to the menu. Also the note/cursor sometimes blanks out on certain lines of the staff while positioning. I noticed this while trying to add a new strings track yesterday.

If you have any illuminating and useful thoughts please let me/us know.

best :)
