Keyswitches which have velocity and duration

Postby Tatsu Nagao » Sat Apr 28, 2012 8:06 pm

Recent sample libraries are using keyswitches variedly. For example, Ilya Efimov's LP guitar library uses the velocity of Keyswitches. It reads lower velocity as "OFF" and higher velocity as "ON". And also it uses HOLD keyswitch which is not an one-shot keyswitch but a long-duration keyswitch. Another library needs multiple keyswitches at the same position. I hope to see keyswitch functions expanded in Overture 5.

WOW, things just get more and more complicated although this does make sense. Remind m for Ove 6.

Thanks for your reply, Don.

To my untrained eye, the support for expanded keyswitches seems not so difficult that I strongly guess Overture 5.1 will do it. :)

Being able to send multiple KS/CC messages is essential for libraries like VSL, which might require up to 4.

I agree it's essential. This feature will bring over users.

Recently I purchased Electri6ity, an electric guitars' sound library. It requires velocity value (under 90 or over 90) for some keyswitches to make sustain, mute and half-mute sound. These "velocity for keyswitch" features couldn't become mainstream, but in some areas they are must-have. The soundset for Sibelius and Electri6ity already exists, and I tried to write VST XML for Overture and Electri6ity, but came to a standstill. Hopefully Overture 5.1 will have this feature.

Yes we are going to have an XML for Electri6ity. We already have one created for VI.One.

Just joking. Once upon a time in the future we will have more keyswitches than notes in a composition.... :?:

Don,
Good news! Thanks.

Raymond,

Of course, and logically YES!
One note could have a lot of articulations. We will have to attach multi-keyswithces on each note one by one in near future. We need polyphonic tracks for keyswitches.

VSL requires up to 4 keyswitches per articulation...

Sorry, just realized I repeated myself!

How is the XML script associated with a given VSTi? I only have the demo, so perhaps that something that's left out?

No XML in the documentation index.
