Odd things when changing a meter...

So let's see if I can be clear...

I have a piano piece in 4/4. I want to change one measure to 5/4.
So let's say it's m. 34.

-1. I change measure 34 to 5/4, and in doing this I select the range 34 through 34.
It moves everything over that follows it to that new beat in m.34 destroying the rest of the formatting.

-2. So I decide maybe if I "change" m.35 first to show a 4/4 time signature, then it won't alter anything to the format when I change m. 34 to 5/4. Well what happens this time, is the material in m.35 stays put, but notes disappear from m.34, and as I keep trying sometimes the whole measure.

HELP!

An addendum...
I opened a new file.

Piano score with only 3 measures in 4/4....
Inserted 4 qrt notes in mm 1 and 3. 3 qrts in m. 2
Changed the meter in m 2 to 3/4. All fine...
Then changed the meter in m. 3 to 4/4 . Measure 3 disappeared.

This is a problem!!!!

Sometimes,I'm having huge problems myself when it comes to transforming the metric of an already existing measure.I haven't found a drastic solution. Don should study this problem.

Yes, I can confirm Strizi... and using your addendum example...there are differences between builds 5.6.3 and 5.6.2 (and maybe others):

As you said Build 5.6.3 removes the measure:

Build 5.6.2 below... adds a measure when you make the change to 3/4 from 4/4 (I think it's trying to compensate for the rest) ...so you delete the extra measure but you at least don't lose notes ... and if/when reverting to 4/4 you can resume normalcy.

I didn't try other builds beyond this but depending on your situation/project/preference you may want to roll back a build.

In 5.6.1-2 you can change the time signature of an individual measure by telling the program which measure to change, e.g., "Measure 14 to 14." (Be careful not to let the change go to end of score!). The following measure(s) will retain the original time signature but you may have to go back to "Measures/Set Time Signature" and check the "Show" box. I have used this feature often after discovering that if I didn't specify just the one measure everything afterward got reformatted!
