Re: Is Overture Still Alive?!

The frustrating thing is...yes, OV4 was pretty stable but had several missing features that OV5 incorporated. It's just that they are so buggy. If Don hadn't posted a very long list of bugs that had been fixed, and wishlist items that had been incorporated, in his promised update, it would seem hope...

Re: Extracting and trasposing parts from orchestral score

In addition, when you open the part from the master score, you can change the transposition in the Inspector panel. For instance, if you are notating in concert pitch, and need an Eb transposition, you can set the "Part" (under settings) to -3. I notate in transposed mode so the master sco...

Re: Extracting and trasposing parts from orchestral score

The bass clef problem was fixed, as far as I know. Are you using the most recent release (5.6.3.3)? Yes, many annoying bugs exist in part production. First, you must not do your editing in parts mode from the master score. Instead, save the part as a separate file and use that file for editing. You ...

Re: Rests Can't be Dragged

Wow! That works! What on earth is "redundant rests"? In any case, thank you.
Yes, there is still life. Still composing. I hope we do someday hear from Don and that he is OK, if nothing else.

Rests Can't be Dragged

Don't ask me why these rests entered the way they did but now I can't drag or use arrow keys to lower them into correct position. (measure 30, cello. Score attached). This has happened before with this latest, bug-ridden version. If anyone has a suggestion, let me know. Of course it would be easy en...

Re: Is Overture Still Alive?!

Complaining for the sake of complaining, or worrying needlessly are not productive. I agree. But at some point one has a right to expect to receive something that is promised. The last update that actually progressed OV5 was close to two years ago. Then an update was released that broke more things ...

Re: Short cello trio

Hi David,
Very nice and very "classical". Hope you get it performed. Thanks for sharing both the audio and score.

Re: The silence is worrisome.

I've noticed in the past year that we have lost many regulars here on the Forum, undoubtedly because all the bugs they posted were addressed by Don, then never fixed, and it's going on about a year or more since any real improvement has been made.. And we are talking about really basic stuff that ev...

Re: Transpose function- Dimished second interval

I now see what you meant. Yes, we don't refer to the "perfect" intervals, (4th, 5th, octave or unison) lowered by a semitone as "minor". This is one of those very peculiar things about our music system that is overly complex, because in reality a diminished 4th sounds as a 3rd an...

Re: Transpose function- Dimished second interval

From a transpositional standpoint, a diminished second and minor second are two ways of saying the same thing same. They are redundant and serve no purpose in the end result. A B# or C or D double flat, raised a minor second, will give you a C# no matter what you call it. Whether it notates as a C# ...

Re: Tremolo Placement Bug

Thanks Merv,
I guess I should have tried that. It would be nice if that was fixed at some point. I don't believe it is normal to have tremolo marks above the whole notes above the staff. It looks strange. So it is not really a solution.

Tremolo Placement Bug

The placement of tremolo marks on high notes interferes with ledger lines.

Re: Is Overture Still Alive?!

however, since November there have been several posts, by Don, with a list of bugs that are fixed. So I hope that will actually happen. It would be very hard to have faith in an Overture 6 if, years after OV5's release, we are still dealing with these things, not to mention the severe lack of commun...

Re: Adding Another Instrument to Instance of Kontakt

Sounds like progress is being made. I have to just chime in something I posted about years ago- that the choice of naming "instances" or referring to the sound Library being used as an "instrument" is confusing a s Hell and has accounted for many bewildered posts on this Forum. A...

Re: Adding Another Instrument to Instance of Kontakt

I don't understand Step 2. When you start with Choose Track's Instrument/Software Instrument/Kontakt you are given a "Library" field underneath where it now says Kontakt where you can choose the library you are using (in this case you choose Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra.) There is no need t...
