Re: Overture 4 and Catalina

Hi, It's maybe a bit late and perhaps you've already found out, but just to let you know that Ove 4 is a 32-bit app and so won't run under Catalina. But you can safely update and use Ove 5 to open/edit/convert your Ove 4 files. I upgraded to Catalina some while ago and otherwise am in the same boat ...

Re: Non-standard key signature?

Hi Fred, I don't think there's a really simple answer. I can only suggest the following workaround: 1. Find a font with a Flat symbol or a good-looking b and paste it into Measure Text at the beginning. You can copy paste (Option/Alt drag) for each new line. (I don't think Ove 4 handles Unicode, tho...

Re: Overture 4.1.5

Hi, 4.1.5 will only run on Mac OS Mojave or earlier. Overture 5 will run on Catalina (and Mojave, of course). Hope this helps put your mind at rest.

Hi,
Just for info, on the Mac too it's Ctrl-click and the file is stored in /Users/.../Library/Sonic Scores/Overture 5/User Presets

Re: A note of appreciation

Having used Overture ever since v.2, I can only agree with everything that has been said. The way it has evolved, the way it works, the way and speed with which Don responds to valid requests and calls for help - in short pretty much everything about it makes it better, more likeable and more easily...

Re: Global Scale Tool Not Working

Oops! Sorry Wayne, I didn't notice your problem was with Ov4. Basically the answer is the same. For the entire score, use the slider in the Page Dimensions dialog from the Score menu. Other options are described in Ov4 Help under the FAQs, How do I make the music smaller on the page?

Re: Global Scale Tool Not Working

Hi, The scale tool is just for selected notes/text/symbols etc. If you want to scale an entire score or part select the Score Layout button at top right (Shift-A), select the Active Part tab and the Page tab in the bottom half, and use the slider to reduce the scale (i.e. fit more on the page). Howe...

Re: 32nd notes beaming within triplet

Hi again, I've found a way: 1. write the notes: quarter + 4x32nds (the 32nds will be beamed if Auto Beam is on, otherwise beam them manually) 2. select the notes and make into a triplet (it doesn't matter what method you use), the beam will be broken 3. delete the triplet marker and re-beam if neces...

Re: About Mojave

Très courageux, Pierre! I'm still going to wait a bit until everything I absolutely rely on is Mojave-ready.
It would be appreciated if you kept us informed of any quirks you come across.
Enjoy the Dark Mode!

Re: 32nd notes beaming within triplet

Hi,
I can't find any way to beam the notes within the triplet. Perhaps it's because they are no longer true 32nds. But you can write it differently - see attached.

Re: Where is Print Setup?

Hi, For saving to a custom size PDF, this is what you do: After selecting File>Print (or Cmd-P) in Overture In the Print dialog: 1. Select PDF>Open in Preview 2. In Preview, select File>Print (or Cmd-P) - not the Print button at bottom right 3. In the new Print dialog, click on Paper Size 4. Select ...

Re: Crash changing the transposition of an instrument

Hi,
Yes, it crashes if you just change the transposition to 3 from 2. The trick is to turn off 'Show transposed' before changing to 3, then turn it back on - done! And no crash - at least not on my system.
Hope this works for you.

Re: Aria Player Instrument Setup Procedure in Ov5

Hi Julie I was having the same problem and think I’ve now found the answer. Basically, I think you need to use the AU plugin on the Mac rather than the VST. This appears as Aria Player in the Garritan list under Software Instrument. So if you haven’t already done so, select Scan Audio Unit Plugins i...

[Resolved]Number size in multi-rests

Is there a way to increase the size of the number displayed in a multi-measure rest (or is there some global setting)? Obviously I've not found one yet and I've not found any reference in the Quick Help either. In Ov 4 there was a Font button in the dialog box where this could be done. It would be g...
