Please post libraries you would be interested in having instrument definitions for as well as any synth plugins you would like to see included.

Instrument definitions work like this:

If you are using a library with a instrument definition list and put a hairpin in the score, it will automatically be assigned to the proper volume controller for that instrument. So, if you are using Garritan Personal Orchestra and place a hairpin in a track, the hairpin will default to sending the Modulation (CC#1) controller. The same goes for all dynamic markings. Slurs will default to sending CC#64 at 127 for the duration of the slur and CC#64 at 0 at the end of the slur and the notes of the slur would overlap.

If you are using EWQL Gold, the hairpin would be defaulted to the Expression controller, the slur to playback at a lower velocity, etc.

It takes some of the work away from the user.

We are also building articulation lists for these supported instruments as well. This means that when you apply a staccato marking to a note, it will automatically default to the proper playback without you having to do anything.

Think of it as 'Human Playback' (yuck) but on a much grander/wider scale.

If your instrument is NOT supported with a definition list, you will have to manually set the playback for the dynamics/markings/etc. The playback options are still there, but there will be no default playback options present.

NOTE: This is not a list of compatible products. This is a list of those VSTi's that we include 'out of the box' instrument definitions for. This means that any keyswitches and controllers used by the product are shown in the controller/keyswitch dropdowns in Overture's menus. Overture 4 is compatible with all kinds of VST instruments and effects. These listed just have greater functionality since we have preloaded the libraries instruments and programming taking some of the burden off the user.

It would be beneficial if you would contact the manufacturer or destributor of your product and ask them to contact us at Geniesoft so we can incorporate their product. If we have their support it all goes smoother since we don't have to dip into our 'personal' budget to see it happen.

I will update and add/change this list as suggestions are made and as I complete the definitions.

Would love to see the EW Bosendorfer 290. Also, will Kontakt 2 be supported?

Yes, Kontakt 2 is supported. It will have a list of libraries seperated by developer. I will add your suggestion to the list. Is this the VSTi version of the EW Bosendorfer (I assume it is.)

I'm also thinking of some of the newer piano VSTi's as well, like the Virtual Grand.

Atmosphere, RMX, Vapor, Edirol's HyperCanvas GM2, Edirol's HQ-OR Orchestral Software Synthesizer, Edirol's VSC-MP1 Virtual Sound Canvas, Absynth, Crystal, Synth 1, Kontakt's included library.

Thanks for asking and keep up the great work!

Atmosphere, Trilogy, and Stylus RMX. These libraries are used by just about everybody in film scoring.

Yes, I meant the VSTi version of Bosendorfer (running with a Kompakt player). This is great news. I can't wait!

List added...

User request for Crystal instrument definition just fulfilled 2 minutes ago.

Question for Scott:

Do you need me to include support for other Crystal banks or just the standard? Keep in mind that it is very easy to create your own instrument definitions as well.

Also, is the Kontakt libary request for Kontakt 1 or 2? Not that it really matters I guess.

It might be nice to have a page with links to the vendors of these VST products as well, since many will be interested in them and might purchase them.

I've got a note into Don about redoing the forum and that's something we're going to do.

Have a special section with links to the supported programs.

Any plans on getting the Jazz and Big Band from Garritan to work as well? I know that would be a big help to me.

Tim

Yes, as soon as we get a copy it will be in the instrument definition updates.

Re: Crystal, if it's easy enough, perhaps I don't...obviously, I'll know more once I purchase.

It will be Kontakt 2...

Thanks for all the hard work!

How about Sounds of the '70s? This is an East-West product and uses Intakt.

Joseph,

Would you please check on any differences between OmniSynth ( w/Sample tank 1 LE ) and the ( SampleTank 2 LE ) ? Many, if not most should overlap, or at least be addressable directly. Can I still address version 1 LE ?

I have ( SampleTank 1 LE ), and don't particularly want, or need, to upgrade to their 2 LE. I'ld prefer to put the money toward the Jazz and Big Band library.
