How is the XML script associated with a given VSTi? I only have the demo, so perhaps that something that's left out?

No XML in the documentation index.

See inside "VSTDevices" folder in the folder where you installed Overture. Overture matches the name of the VSTi to the filename of the XML file in the folder.

So then for something like EWQLSO, it's expecting the keyswitch patches to be loaded?

I'm guesing this won't work if the VSTi are hosted in VE Pro...

Thanks!
Bill

You are right.
But, what if there is "VE Pro.xml" which includes sentences for EWQLSO in the folder?
Refer to the guide and search for a word "include" or "Kontakt".

So, now that I actually have Ove4, please run this by me again...

Say I load EWQL Solo Flute. The VSTi name is "Play". How does that associate with "EWQL Platinum Winds"? Or I should say, it's not associating, and articulations are not being played back.

I uploaded XML files for QLSO Play again.
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=14530

In "Overture 5" thread, Raymond posted some links for reformed XML files which are based on the above files.
Default XML files which were made by the developer are for old QLSO NI Kontakt or Konpakt version.

Minimum articulations are assigned in the XMLs, because QLSO has a lot of keyswitches, but Overture doesn't have enough assignable symbols. The assignment is up to you.
Can you see keyswitch names and Controller names at the drop-down menu of "Articulation Playback" window which will be opend by double-clicking an articulation symbol? At the bottom of the window, there is a checkbox "Change all in track" which is useful.

I'm not getting even the most basic articulations like staccato and legato.

In the drop down list in Articulation Playback, I get the keyswitch note names like C#1, D1, etc

Under Options>Preferences try changing the position of Middle C.

It looks like you don't have good result. If you need to know how to set up VSTi and tracks, use this link.

Ahhhh... Didn't know I had to set the Voice.

Why on earth isn't that documentation distributed with Overture?!

Hi Bill,

If you use Play in Vienna Ensemble Pro, it's time to write an XML by yourself.
I have only Vienna Ensemble, so I don't know the VST name of Pro version. Suppose that the name is "Vienna Ensemble Pro", the XML woukd be,

Filename: Vienna Ensemble Pro.xml
<VSTNameDocument>
<Version>1</Version>
<Author>your name</Author>
<Device name="Vienna Ensemble Pro">
<Include name="EWQLSO Platinum Brass"/>
<Include name="EWQLSO Platinum Percussion"/>
<Include name="EWQLSO Platinum Strings"/>
<Include name="EWQLSO Platinum Woodwinds"/>
<Include name="EWQL Symphonic Choirs"/>
<Include name="QL Pianos"/>
</Device>
</VSTNameDocument>

The VST name is shown in the "Instruments Rack".

If I add text items to the Expressions library, can those items then be added to the ArticulationNames section of the XML to define playback?
