Hi. New to this forum. I've used GS in Windows. Today is my first time on the Mac. No matter what I am playing, all midi notes are hanging. The first time I hit the pedal on my keyboard; that cleared it. Now it doesn't matter. I recorded a song, somehow, even though notes kept hanging on. I do not know how to keep them from hanging. Not only that sometimes I am playing and a note seems to arbitrarily hold. So what should be a quarter note ends up being a whole note tied over for three bars or more. Any suggestions?

Maybe Keyboard Thru is causing it? Select Options> Keyboard Thru so that the checkmark in the menu is off.

Hi John,

I did what you suggested: I turned off Keyboard Thru, but when I go back to Midi Devices, I still see my keyboard connected and when I click the test button, I still hear that it is coming through. Now, my understanding is that how else could I record if I don't have Keyboard Thru selected? But even so, I unselected it, and it is still coming through. Any other suggestions?

I'm taking guesses here especially since I havent stepped over to the Mac side. From a previous thread I think we covered turning off Audio Engine. I can't think of much else.

Btw, keyboard thru is just a software device that sends the exact same midi events out from the computer that came into it, potentially causing a double-note chorused sound more than anything else, but I figured it was possible that an infinite midi loop was occurring when thru was on.

What happens when you try doing stuff with Mac's Garage Band application? Does the keyboard behave there?

I have had problems with sticking notes when I play either my Yamaha or Roland keyboard for note entry. Both those have local on-off, of course. When I use my M-audio 49 key rig controller I have no problems - so I've often wondered if 'local on off ' is the problem - It shouldn't be in theory but....... try that if you haven't.
