Re: Overture 5.6.3.4 (Coming soon)
Used Finale, then 10 years of Sibelius, then thought Dorico was the best. Till I ran into e-licenser problems.
Just bought OV.5 last week, can´t believe how awesome it is. I´m a classical guitar student, it has everything I missed in all the others: easy, correct MXL import, Daw included, Loop function (finally!), whoever is working on this software, congrats.keep up the good work and thanks.

Regarding Don.....He was living near my father-in-law near Charleston SC......personally, I would love to meet him for coffee sometime when we visit down there. I used to have some amazingly informative conversations with him in the early days of Overture 3 and 4, when he used to have the Telephone Support Line. I learned a lot about the program from those chats!!! The good old days!

Nice memories. I also remember calling in a few times back in the day.Silent Knight wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:57 am Regarding Don.....He was living near my father-in-law near Charleston SC......personally, I would love to meet him for coffee sometime when we visit down there. Alright then. So I think by now you and whoever's behalf you are speaking on, and plenty of others who speak for themselves... have all made yourselves abundantly clear on where you stand. What you would like to see happen with Overture and hear from Sonic Scores. What you appreciate and what you don't.Fabrizio A. wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 3:13 am No. It was absolutely not directed at you Dean, it's just that there are people here who are wondering what happened to the owner of this software and why every time you have to beg for information.
My unsolicited advice...would be...to let it be. You can trust Don is aware and you can also trust Don would let us know when and if anything is going to happen with Overture. That goes for a new build, version 6, or ANYTHING. The "when" is up to him.
On another point surrounding this activity...although Sonic Scores is run with a more personal touch than many other companies....no matter what forum you may visit... no matter what the company, software-related or not...and no matter how justified someone may feel they are...usually spamming the same thing repeatedly, typically towards the negative, the company itself, the owner(s), and especially encouraging people to drop the use of their products for a competitor...is no Bueno...and not going to end well. Obviously, they will have their posts edited, deleted, and eventually banned. What's also not good is that it can spread under different guises and even if the person genuinely had something of value to suggest or fix... which they may very well have had...it just winds up going unheard and becoming toxic. So not only do they potentially lose out...we all do.
Keep posting, asking what you don't know or need help with, improvements, fixes, etc., and try to keep it constructive and on point. Obviously, try not to get into diatribes. It's not going to help us here and nothing positive is gained from it. If your patience has run out and you feel you have to say something, keep it classy and respectable, if you can't... keep it to yourselves. If you can't wait or hold out anymore, what else can be said other than it would be sad to lose you, but not if it continues to be at the expense of everyone else.
My .02,
~Dean
Re: Overture 5.6.3.4 (Coming soon)
I'm purchasing a Macbook with the latest OSX on it to run Dorico for certain scoring and will partition the HD and run a slightly older OS to run Overture.
Between the two, I should have solve most scoring issues, especially since the Dorico will handle the leadsheet chord problems I've had with the Overture 5.x
This will give me the best solution. I really need a machine that doesn't run as hot as the desktop model anyhow!
I'm still looking forward to the newer release of Overture (Kraken) when it comes.

Re: Overture 5.6.3.4 (Coming soon)
FYI, I've installed Dorico and Overture (latest build) on this Macbook Pro i9-chipset and it works fine so far.
I can start scores in Overture and flip rhythm parts into Dorico (XML) to finish them off. XML helps very much. The way Dorico handles chord symbols is really quite good.
OSX12 doesn't solve any issues I've had.
I replaced the MOTU MIDI/audio interface with the Steinberg UR22C since MOTU simply does not offer good driver support and is a real space heater. The Steinberg runs without any issues on both the OSX10.11 machine and the MacBook and is so much cooler (energy efficient).

Monterey solves a lot of problems that people are having in Big Sur.ronnb wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:08 pm FYI, I've installed Dorico and Overture (latest build) on this Macbook Pro i9-chipset and it works fine so far.

I will skip updating the OS to version 12 for now because I'm paranoid. I only wish I could find a cooler MIDI interface to use. This MOTU thing is a real space heater.

You had me hoping, but I updated to Monterey and it didn't make a difference in the tablature related problems I've been experiencing.MikeHalloran wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 10:31 pmMonterey solves a lot of problems that people are having in Big Sur.ronnb wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 11:08 pm FYI, I've installed Dorico and Overture (latest build) on this Macbook Pro i9-chipset and it works fine so far.

Yes, I found that out as well. The best solution is to replace the MOTU product with the current Steinberg product I'm now using, which, works on multiple system setups and is cool when running (energy efficient). MOTU is off my hardware list since they are not rubust in their product support.

Hello?
Any update on this topic? Is there any forecast for a new Overture 5 version? I downloaded the least one and it's the 5.6.3-3 version... Whats is the Overture future? Overture 6?

AFAIK, yes. When will that be? Maybe this year? Maybe next? Will there be an update before that? None of us really know here, so it's down to the developer how/when the next release(s) will come.

Great ! I like the part "AFAIK, yes." !! Don, are you there ? Please don't leave us, there is no other decent sheet music software out there! Waiting for good news soon !Dean Krommydas wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 4:53 amAFAIK, yes. When will that be? Maybe this year? Maybe next? Will there be an update before that? Re: Overture 5.6.4.0 (Coming soon)
Thank you! When I was an active musician I played mainly baroque and early music, but now I "just" write. A lot of things. I'm at home with writing scores, but I don't need a score, I need an audible result. I tried Sibelius and other programs, and ended up with Finale. I used it for about 10 years until I came across Overture 5 last year. I haven't used anything else since. It beats everything. A mass of brilliant solutions. My heartiest congratulations!
Of course, there are plenty of problems with this one too, but I'm ashamed to mention them, they are so outweighed by the mass of witty, easy to understand, musically expertly crafted, innovative solutions. I fear that if we accumulate too many wishes and mistakes, we will end up discouraging its creator from further development, which would be tragic.
Thank you very much, I am grateful!
