Here's a link to my newest composition. Well, you'll hear a short start on it!

I've added some variations and a short B part here..

But I may have to rework Part B a few bars before the end. Seems like there an needless measure or some slight disconnect.

A work in progress ...

Having fun with my longhair persona!

Sure enough, I deleted the 5th measure from the end and all three voices connected perfectly.

Also I decided to remove the chromaticism to let this piece be what it wanted to be. Lastly I soften a couple of the melodic turns that seemed too angular

So here's Take 3

Why are the highest and lowest notes not sounding? Is it a Dropbox thing?

Hi Merv,

With Middle C = C4 the highest note in my piece is A5 and the lowest is G2 ... until the last chord which has a D2.

You're saying you're not hearing those?

Don't know. I've never encountered such a problem with Dropbox playback.

You could use the download button and see if there's a difference during playback on you computer.

The downloaded version as played through Windows Media Player hits all the notes properly, but as played directly from the Dropbox interface some of the lower notes are clipped. Probably just my system setup/soundcard/speakers.

…anyways, you’ve written a beautiful dreamy nocturne. It’s funny isn’t it – the more you listen to a well written piece of music the more it grows on you. You’re able to soak in or absorb the gentle nuances. I find that this doesn’t happen to me with mediocre or poorly composed pieces. I really enjoyed this music … is there more?

Thanks for reporting on your Dropbox experience. I've noticed some oddities with their video player as well. For instance, when playback is complete it fails to "hold" the last frame, and instead pickup some random preview frame near the beginning.

BTW, I did check Dropbox playback on my mac desktop and on two phones and the Nocture plays fine. But I'd keep on the alert for the anomalies you mentioned.

Thank you!

I'm honored by your response. It's a very nice compliment. I agree with your reflection that a well written piece can draw us in deeper over time, where we find favorite parts and new discoveries. I think Handel's Keyboard Suites are like that, especially in the hands of Ragna Schirmer.

And this is lovely too. Like Bach, but slightly sunnier.

I've composed a good deal but presently I don't have a collection up anywhere.

Thanks for asking. I should get on that before too long.
