"The Editor" March for Band

Post by DrLeonard »

One of my recent compositions, named for my wife (who edits a poetry magazine). It can be heard here:

Absolutely wonderful and original. Bravo! I love the interplay and "dueling" themes between wind sections.
A technical suggestion, if I may. The snare drum rolls sound like you used the OV tremolo marks which can sound very "machine-gun" like. I suggest using the "tr" mark and setting its keyswitch to whatever key gives the roll patch. ASO (if that's what you used) has a good drum roll sample.

It's a pleasure to hear compositions on this forum which are in a style I normally don't listen to and enjoy them so much (not all of course... but this was superb...)

Thanks for the comment! Actually I used the MIDI (GM Player) for all the percussion, and also for the saxophones.

Hi, RC,

Somehow I missed that when you posted it, but just played it. It is exquisite.

My congratulations, and best wishes to the editor as well for inspiring such a great work.

Indeed the drum rolls do not do well in that rendering.

Best regards, and stay safe.

Alan
