"Oh Christmas Tree" - A Dark Dystopian Christmas

Post by Dean K. »

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted anything in the lounge for quite some time...but I figured with Christmas upon us...you might get a kick out of this Dark Dystopian Christmas cover of "Oh Christmas Tree."

Composed in Overture...had a lot of fun with this one...

My best,

~Dean

I live with a few people who like to hear Christmas music the year round. I am so tired of Christmas songs that i don't care to ever hear another one, so I can certainly relate to what you have done with "Oh Christmas Tree"! Compared to the usual jingly Christmas music it is a refreshing change to hear a rendition so ominous.

On a somewhat related note -- though I didn't write anything in Overture except the four bars of melody -- I have long imagined a different way to hear the words that end the first line of "We Three Kings." So I came up with this "ad" a few days ago:

Thanks for the kind words...I take it as a big compliment coming from someone who is at their wit's end with Christmas music!

Dean,
on a serious note- great composition and video. I hear where you are coming from. I do enjoy Xmas music but the composer in me (like you) appreciates creativity. Thanks for that.

Hi Pete,

Thank you so much for listening and for the thumbs up. I genuinely appreciate it. 🙏

I should clarify, that I enjoy Christmas music as well... and the composition is most definitely not intended as mockery... it's just a different take... knowing it can be a bittersweet time of the year for many too.

I'm sure I would grow weary though if I had to listen year-round as Dr. Leonard does!

Merry Christmas!

~Dean
