Overture 5.5.4-6 Mac OS

When the user double clicks a file already open in Overture, Overture posts the warning:

               File Open Error
    FileName.ovex is already open.

Most apps handle this silently by activating the relevant window and putting it frontmost. Overture fails to do so and instead simply confronts us with the error message.

Perhaps handling this situation gracefullyis difficult due an issue related to Overture's single-window system. Still I think the effort would prove worthwhile! It's good UX.

For unknown reasons Overture limits users to a maximum of four concurrently opened scores. If there are four scores opened and—in the MacOS Finder—the user double-clicks on a file not already, Overture does not communicate its refusal or inability to open the score.

Suggestion: Have Overture post a message like: "You've reached the maximum number of open scores. To open this score you'll first need to close an opened score.

Please see prior post: Silent dismissal

Overture is nicely designed to allow users to invoke Notes to Tablature from a staff that has no previously established tablature staff directly below it. But when we do so Overture needlessly warns that there's a problem, when this is just normal operation:

Problem "There is no tablature track below the current track! Do you want to create one now?"

IF Overture indeed deems in important to warm about an impending track addition it could be better worded:

Overture must add a tablature staff to run Notes to Tablature.
Add a tablature staff? (You can define the type in the pending dialog.)

(Cancel) (OK)

And offer the user a "Don't show this message again" checkbox.

I agree.

Best regards,
