Mute/solo (M/S) Button locked on Inspector Panel

Post by Silent Knight »

Can someone please tell me why on THIS SCORE ONLY, my mute/solo button is permanently locked in the S position on the Inspector Panel? Oddly enough, I have several versions of this score and they ALL do this. Even odder......Channel 1 is fine, channels 2--5 are locked.

Sound but sad lyrics ... :(

It may feel score-specific but I think it's just part of the programming... I'll explain why... assuming I'm understanding your inquiry correctly. I just can't remember at the moment if the behavior is specific to one build or another though.

What appears to be behind it is....where/how you initiate the Solo.

So if you right-click on a staff or use the keyboard command SHIFT+ ALT + S to solo an instrument/track... then as you say... within the Inspector Panel it "locks" the ability to unsolo it from under the voice(s)...presumably because that's not where it was initiated from. But you can unsolo it if you use the same method as you did to begin with.

If you initiate the solo on a voice or voices from within the Inspector Panel... you can toggle them on and off all day without issue.

Again all depends on where it was initiated from. So if you save a project forgetting where you initiated the solo from...this would explain that.

I get that it seems like this should be interchangeable.

The only way I know how to turn it on is thru the Inspector Panel. Now I can't turn it off! It was turned on a while ago, then I didn't touch the program for about 9 months. When I came back, a whole bunch of bugs/quirks took over. Like all my MIDI settings (MIDISPORT) defaulted back to General Midi 1. I had to go in all my scores and reload them all and re-save. Accents and chord names were stacked on top of each other, things like that. I have one score where the Bank Select expression for "Symph Horns" refuses to function.....just from sitting.

PS.....I want to say thank you because your suggestion DID solve my problem, even though I had no idea how it got that way in the first place.

My pleasure Silent, glad it helped.

I'm not sure what to say or what's involved with the other quirks. I remember you mentioning something related in a couple of other posts but I'd probably need your actual hardware to test (Bank Select and MIDI SPORT issue)... maybe they got disconnected and saved that way...too many variables. And also not sure about the accents and chords being stacked if they were fine before. Did you reinstall or use a different build? I don't know...🤔

The articulations moving all over has been going on since Overture 3. I'm constantly putting accents back in position and chord names for years!!!

I just posted the bug about the Expression Bank Change. Maybe you could help me solve that one too!

Hey, Dean,

I never realized that about the Mute and Solo controls in two places. Thanks.

Best regards,

Alan
