Hi.

Can anyone help me with a basic problem? Say I have loaded an instrument with a full range, like the String Ensemble. Its articulation setting as from C-1 Sustain to A-1 Tremolo, but these notes are also within the playing range of the instrument.

Basically, I don't know how send a CC message to change the articulation when it is playing. I can change it from the Kontakt interface, but how do I set it externally?

TIA

.. mark.

This is called a keyswitch (not CC). All the playback setting dialogs include this, or if your MIDI keyboard is a full 88 keys, you can just play the note.

Right, keyswitch not CC, my apologies, however the question remains.

If I send it a note within the range of the instrument, it plays the note. How do I indicate that I want this C1, say, to change the articulation to sustain and not sound the note C1? When the keyswitch is outside the instrument range, like Violin I, no problem. But how do I get around the note or keyswitch thing?

Thanks again

Is this specific to the ASO library? If so, you just insert articulations and expressions into your score, and they send the proper keyswitches.

If you're talking about some other library, they you need to set the playback properties with whatever KS or CC you need to send.

Thanks, Bill. Ends up it was my problem (nothing new there). The program I am using to control ASO (RapidComposer) and ASO aren't quite on the same page when it comes to note names. A bit of fiddling on both ends and it is all working as expected.

Thanks again
