Snare Drum Track Changes to Cymbals Without Warning, etc.

Post by DrLeonard »

In a composition I am working with now, I am using the ASO Snare Drum and ASO Cymbals. With the Cymbals I am using the Percussive-1 staff, to save some space in the score (there are 23 tracks). From time to time I discover that the Drum track has changed to the Cymbal instrument, or vice versa! And I did nothing to make that happen. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, and how I can prevent this from happening?

I can "work around" the problem by selecting the MIDI "GM Player 2" cymbals instead, but the problem should not occur in the first place. I have other compositions in which I am able to use both the ASO snare drum and cymbals without this problem occurring.

Another thing to confirm is your voice assignments. An easy was to check is to show ‘Symbols in color’. Your Voices and Channels should jive. You should make Ch.1 Vc.1 black and Ch.2 Vc.2 blue (or whatever color assignments suit you). Each additional percussive instrument you add to the track would increment and be a different color. This makes things way less complicated.

I have never had problems like yours. I think your channel or Kontakt version is having some problems.
